Supporting Learning with Technology
Louisville’s commitment to integrated learning encourages students to apply technology creatively and in ways that suit them individually, as problem-solvers and as strong communicators.
The Library is a learning and collaboration center for both students and faculty, providing space for individual and group study, research and conferencing. Our catalog, databases, e-books and research resources are accessible 24/7 on Louisville’s secure learning management system for students and teachers.
Our comprehensive technology program includes laptops for every student, interactive whiteboards in every classroom, a Mac media lab, a digital design lab, microphone sets for language lab activities, digital pens for math and graphic design, and wireless access campus-wide.
Learning Management System
Louisville's students, parents and teachers use the best learning management system available that is designed specifically for small, private schools - Blackbaud's onCampus LMS. This gives Louisville students a great organizational advantage over students at larger schools.
My Louisville, as we've named it, integrates lessons, assignments, grades, records, communication and media in one place that is easy to use and compatible with everything from laptops to tablets to smartphones. Students use My Louisville to review lessons, participate in online discussions, upload assignments and connect to Google Apps for Education.
Electronic Textbook Options
Two-thirds of our textbooks are available as e-books, and this option is expanding annually; e-books are available for literature, mathematics, science, health, religion and modern languages. French and Spanish books also include rich online supplemental materials for listening and speaking.
The Lenovo Yoga laptops are touchscreen with Windows apps like Kno and other eReaders for textbooks and academic support.
As publishers expand their development of online textbooks, students will benefit by having options to purchase online versions for use with their laptops and personal devices.
Teaching & Learning Support
Our Director of Instructional Technology and our Director of Educational Technology work together to make sure all hardware, software, infrastructure and services are up-to-date and being used to benefit student learning. Professional development for faculty is ongoing, and student training is fully integrated into lessons in all departments.
Students can seek academic technology support for troubleshooting or help with curriculum integration of technology. On-campus support is available before/after school and at breaks during the school day.
