Biodiversity and Water Collection Challenges in Innovation Lab

Students in Ms. Mead's Earth Science and Environmental Science classes took on some big challenges in the Innovation Lab. Applying "design thinking" in small groups, they created prototypes of water collection devices and objects that encourage biodiversity on campus.
From owl boxes to wall gardens, the biodiversity challenge produced some very interesting creations! Rainwater collection proves to be a big challenge given the scarcity of rain in the area. This requires some creative solutions to effectively gather and store water for use in gardens and washing cars.  The ideas always prove to be unique among the groups as they apply their own personal experiences to the solutions.
