IRVINE, Calif. — On Saturday afternoon the Louisville Royals Softball Team defeated No. 1 Torrance High School in the CIF Southern Section Division 5 title game 5-1. Sophomore Grace Luderer led the No. 8 seeded Royals with nine strikeouts and only two hits. Read more... 
In the third inning, the Tartars broke the scoreless tie with the Royals on a passed ball. From then on, it was a defensive battle with Torrance leading Louisville 1-0 after the fourth inning.

In the fifth inning, the Royals came to life scoring four times. Senior Keona Miller tied it up 1-1 with a single. Soon after, Senior Nicole Norman’s double helped the Royals take a 4-1 lead.  At the top of the sixth, the Royals added one more sealing the deal 5-1.  

At the bottom of the seventh, Luderer helped capture the program’s first CIF title with her ninth strikeout of the game.
