“If you want to survive as a post player in the Mission League, weak-minded or physically vulnerable student athletes need not attempt to take on the challenge. Fortunately for Louisville’s girls basketball team, Nicholle Aston is neither.” -Erik Boal, Staff Writer, Daily News (12/13/2012) When the online College Bound Recruiting Service profiled Nicholle Aston as one of their high school students to watch, they described her as follows: “Aston is a 6’2” post player who has a nice arsenal of post moves, strong passing ability from the post, finds relocating guards, relentless rebounder and tough defender on the blocks. Good ball handling skills and great leader. Solid footwork and developing her transition game from rim to rim.” The Louisville community knows Nicholle as a fun-loving, kind and talented Louisville girl who is dedicated to her family, her friends and her sport. The daughter of Louisville alumna (and former member of Louisville’s Varsity Basketball team in the mid-1980s) Marianella Cruz Aston ’86, Nicholle has studied hard and played hard during her four years at Louisville.

When the head coach of the University of Virginia women’s volleyball team, Dennis Hohenshelt, announced that Jasmine Burton had signed a letter of intent to join the Cavaliers for the fall 2013 season, he said, “Jasmine has always been interesting to us because she’s not the biggest kid, but has long arms, is 5’10”, is a lefty, hits the ball hard and always just keeps competing. She gives us a whole new look having a lefty on the team. I think she’s going to come in and do some things in the gym that nobody’s doing right now.” The Louisville community knows Jasmine as a highly motivated, fun and friendly Louisville girl who has grown to be a tremendous leader on her team and in her class. Jasmine led Louisville to its first Mission League Championship in Volleyball in more than two decades and to the 2012 Division 1-A quarterfinals. She was named the Daily News 2012 All-Area Volleyball Team Player of the Year.

U.S. Collegiate Academic All-Americans Baranski, Morgan Boneberg, Lorraine Hack, Elizabeth Davidson, Lauren Nicholson and Khadija Zanotto were honored for their performance at the 2014 U.S. Collegiate Championships in St. Louis, Mo.

As a petite and shy young lady growing up in Palmdale, one would never know from appearances what a powerhouse Elizabeth Davidson is in the pool. A synchronized swimmer since early childhood, Elizabeth has dedicated countless hours to perfecting her elegant, swan-like moves in the pool. An active competitor in national synchronized swimming competitions, Elizabeth signed with Ohio State University and began competing at the collegiate level with her teammates in the fall of 2013. While at Ohio State, Elizabeth continues her involvement with the USA National Team, flying from Ohio to Northern California each month to train with the team, and hopes to qualify for the Olympics in 2016.

As the number one singles player for Louisville High School’s tennis team for three consecutive years, it is no surprise that Hannah’s talent was sought after by the Air Force Academy. With her skills, enthusiasm as team captain during her senior year leading the way, Louisville’s tennis team not only qualified for the playoffs but secured a second place finish for three years as well. Hannah’s dedication and commitment to the sport, coupled with her family history of alumni from the Air Force Academy and the Armed Services, will undoubtedly serve the Air Force Academy – and our country – well for years to come.

Joining the California Golden Bears at UC Berkeley this fall will be Louisville’s own Nicole Henriksson. Nicole, a 5’5” forward, has been the captain of the field hockey team all four of her years at Louisville. When the Cal field hockey coach, Shellie Onstead, announced Nicole’s signing, along with a handful of other talented young players from California, she commented, “This group represents a great balance of talent over all areas of the field. We look forward to welcoming them into our program, not only for their hockey skills, but for what they add as individuals.” The Louisville campus has long been aware of the many talents and gifts that Nicole brings to the community as an individual. The daughter of Louisville alumna Laurie Peters Henriksson ’81 and sister of Emily Henriksson ’09 and AnnMarie Henriksson ’11, Nicole will join her older sister, Emily, by playing on a collegiate-level team. Emily is currently a senior on the Stanford University field hockey team. Nicole is widely known as a charming, warm and dedicated friend who is also an exceptional student and athlete.

Prep: Ranked 90th in Southern California while attending Louisville High School...named First-Team All-Mission League as a senior when she posted a 30-3 record

A 2012 graduate of Louisville High School... Guided her Los Angeles Volleyball Academy (LAVA) team to a first-place finish at the 2012 National Volleyball Festival in Phoenix... While competing for the Louisville High School girls' volleyball team, she earned Co-Most Valuable Player honor for the Mission League and was named MVP for her own squad. Cal Poly 

Freshman outside hitter Danna McDonald was named Rookie of the Week as she enjoyed a solid week as the Hawks' clinched its third straight CCC Volleyball Championship. She averaged 4.0 kills and 3.5 digs per set while hitting .259. McDonald rattled off 24 kills and 21 digs in CCC Tournament play, including a double-double in a 3-1 victory over Endicott in the Championship match, with18 kills and 16 digs.  McDonald was previously recognized as a member of the All-CCC Honorable Mention.

2012-13 (SOPHOMORE): Indoor: finished in second-place in the 200-meter dash at the Hoosier Hills Invitational in a time of 24.92...ran a season-best time of 7.75 to finish 16^thin the 60-meter dash at the Big Ten Indoor Championships...Outdoor: ran a career-best time of 23.82 in the 200-meter dash to finish seventh-place at the Big Ten Outdoor Championships and advance to the NCAA East Preliminary...finished first in the Billy Hayes Invitational in the 200m in a time of 24.28.

COACH HELMER:  "La Toya is a little bit of nothing that can flat get down the track. She really came into her own her senior year highlighted by her windy 11.64 second place finish at the Texas Relays. She continued to race consistently until injury slowed her at the end of her season. She works hard and has very good range. If she picks up where she left off in June she will be a force to be reckoned with in the Big Ten very, very soon."
