Overview

The extensive arts program at Louisville encourages students to discover and develop gifts and talents in dance — including ballet, jazz, tap and contemporary and liturgical movement — in voice, with two excellent choirs, in drama, with variations of dramatic plays and musical productions, and in the visual arts - including painting, drawing, ceramics and photography. Also included in the arts program are media communication classes, featuring a professional media lab, plus classes in computer graphics.

Bye Bye Birdie - 2011 Spring Musical

Ensemble Royale Is Featured In Showcase of Choirs at

Walt Disney Concert Hall: 20th Annual High School Choir Festival

On April 24th, Louisville High School’s Ensemble Royale, conducted by Ms. Maura Piazza, was featured as a solo choir at the Walt Disney Concert Hall during the 20th Annual High School Choir Festival, sponsored by the Los Angeles Master Chorale. Of the 25 choirs participating in the event, four were selected to perform a selection of music on center stage and receive feedback from professionals. They then performed six prepared choral pieces together with all thirty participating choirs, providing our all-girl choir a unique opportunity to sing in combined male/female vocal arrangements. Bravo, Ensemble Royale!

Music Man Marches on St. Louis Hall

Congratulations to the cast, crew, Madame V, Mary Loffa and Mrs. Piazza for a successful and AMAZING run of this year’s spring musical, The Music Man . You put a song in our hearts and a dance in our steps!

Ensemble Royale Strikes Gold in San Francisco

Louisville High School’s Ensemble Royale choir brought home a “Gold” ranking from San Francisco’s Choral Heritage Festival. The choir performed a Christmas piece by John Rutter, “Salvation is Created” and “Old Joe Clark” with fiddle solos by Samantha Moraes. Adjudicators rated Ensemble Royale as Superior, scoring the choir in the 90-100 range, or Gold level. Samantha Moraes was also awarded the Maestro Award for her fiddle performance.

The choir also received expert feedback from a university choral instructor, which will help in preparation for their solo performance at the Los Angeles Master Chorale’s High School Music Festival on April 18th, 2008 at the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
