Louisville High School Receives Recognition from the City of Los Angeles for Community Clean-Up
Woodland Hills, CA (February 16, 2008) - Los Angeles City Councilman Dennis P. Zine present-ed Louisville High School's Class of 2011 with an official commendation for a two-day clean up of Woodland Hills in the area of Mulholland Drive and Avenue San Louis. The freshman students collected trash and pulled weeds to beautify the area.
Mr. Michael Bates, Director of Louisville’s Christian Service/Outreach program, has organized the freshman and sophomore classes for several days of “environmental stewardship” this year. In addition to the work done by the freshmen in Woodland Hills, sophomores have conducted maintenance at Bologna Creek, Hansen Dam and Malibu Creek State Park. The work included trash collection, weed control and planting. Mr. Bates states, “We need to invite students to think beyond our gates to the community at large.”
