Varsity Soccer Ties Powerful Highland in College Showcase
On Saturday December 1st, the Royals Soccer team participated in a one-game c
ollege showcase at Westlake H.S. Matched against highly ranked Highland, the Royals battled to a 2-2 tie, coming back to tie the score two times. Junior Alison Clarizio scored the first goal on a picture perfect “header,” tying the score at one goal apiece. Trailing by a score of 2-1 to open the second half, freshman Katie Pabros scored from 20 yards out to tie the game at two. Stellar goal tending by junior Katherine Amano preserved the tie, as the Royals pounded away at the Highland goal until the final seconds!!
Varsity Soccer Defeats Burroughs on Home Field @ Crespi
On Thursday, December 6th, the Varsity Soccer team (1-1-2) defeated Burroughs of Burbank by a score of 3 – 0. The Royals struck first just seconds into the game, as junior Emilia Barosse scored for a 1-0 lead.
Junior Alison Clarizio put the game out of
reach by adding two more goals, her 4th and 5th of the season. Junior Katherine Amano got the shutout in goal and senior Samantha Puglisi just missed a long goal as the ball deflected off the under part of the goal and bounced out. The Royals want to thank the many students and fans who came out to see the home-opener at Crespi H.S.
Varsity Soccer Battles to a 1-1 Tie Vs. West Ranch HS
The Varsity Soccer team dominated the action in their season opener, ultimately coming up with a tie vs. West Ranch. Junior Alison Clarizio scored the Royals goal to give Louisville a 1-0 advantage, as the Royals controlled the ball for most of the game. The Varsity team will participate in the Westlake Tournament this weekend. Good luck Soccer!
JV Soccer Defeats West Ranch By Stopping “Penalty Kick” in Final Seconds
The JV Soccer season got off to an outstanding start by defeating West Ranch High School 1-0 on Thursday, November 29. The Royals took the lead early in the second half on a goal scored by freshman Claire Kiefer, then survived a “penalty kick” in the final seconds to secure the victory. Freshman goalie Kelsey Farrand came up with the key save as the JV won their first game of the season. Congratulations JV Soccer.
