Golf Mid-Season Report
Under the forth season direction of Chuck Underhill, the Royals (3-7; 3-6) have continued to improve, and, for the fourth consecutive year, the “average team score” has dropped by double digits! Mission League play for golf began September 19th. In the first round, the Royals lost by very close scores to Chaminade, Harvard-Westlake, and Notre Dame. The Royals rebounded to win their final two matches in the first round. The Royals stepped up to defeat Flintridge Sacred Heart 247-305 (lowest score wins). The Medalist (lowest round of the match) was junior Lauren Harbin who shot 45. Finishing second and third for the Royals were junior Elizabeth Underhill (48) and senior Michelle Tellier (50) respectively. In the Alemany match, won by the Royals 263-310, sophomore Giovanna Solano and Lauren Harbin each shot 47 to tie for medalist honors. Next up for the Royals was Michelle Tellier who finished third with a 51.
In the second round of league, the Royals improved their scores, but once again lost tight matches to Chaminade, Harvard-Westlake and Notre Dame. However, the Royals look to finish strong in what is shaping up as the best season in ten years! Faiza Morado ’08; Chelsea Webber ’08; Emily Crosby ’10; Emily Greenwood ’10; Stacey Stearns ’10; Casey Young ’10 and Freshman Alexandra Mutillo have all contributed greatly to the continued improvement of the Golf team. Great job Royal Golf!!!
Golf Tees Off Season Versus La Reina
The Royal Golf team is one of the most improved programs at Louisville, and they looked the part in their season opener at Woodland Hills Country Club taking on area power La Reina in 100 degree weather. In their first league match against Chaminade, most atheletes scored in the low 40’s and did an awesome job. Under the direction of Chuck Underhill, the Royals have become a team to be reckoned with.
