Louisville Track and Field Update
Against Alemany HS, Louisville had winning personal
and seasonal best marks in the in high jump with K.
Barber leaping 5 feet 1 inch. Also, N. Williams
had a winning seasonal best in the 800 meter run with
a time of 2 minutes 29 seconds.
School Records Set at Mission League Finals, Williams takes Gold
At the Mission League finals, many Louisville Track and Field team members medaled and qualified for the CIF Southern Section Division 4 Preliminary Finals to be held May 10 at Carpinteria High School. Opening up the Mission League meet was the 4x100 meter relay team of M. Santos, T. Walker, J. Marx and L. Williams with a seasonal best time of 49.61, finishing third. Then, L. Williams set a personal best of 12.41 to win the gold medal in the 100 meters. Williams is the first freshman to win a Mission League title since 2003, when Louisville’s Elizabeth Olear won the title. In the 400 meters, Marx won a silver medal with a time of 60.81, qualifying for CIF Preliminary Finals for a third straight year at Louisville. In the 800 meters, Williams qualified for CIF Preliminary Finals with a time of 2:25, finishing 4th to qualify for the
second straight year. Later, in the 200 meters, Williams won a silver medal with a seasonal best clocking of 25.78, heading for CIF Preliminary Finals in that race as well. In the field events Louisville had multiple qualifiers. In the Triple Jump, A. Arnold won a silver medal and broke her own school record of 31' 7" with a leap of 34' 6.25". In the High Jump, K. Barber won a bronze medal with a leap of 5' 0", heading to CIF Preliminary Finals. In the Shot Put,
Santos set a school record of 32' 4", breaking the old Louisville mark of Simone Franz of 31' 7", also qualifying her for CIF Preliminary Finals. Finally, finishing off the league meet back on the track, was the team of Williams, Marx, Williams and A. Gomer in the 4x400 meter relay, with a third-place time of 4:09.79, qualifying for the CIF Preliminary Finals. Congratulations to all of our Track and Field team members for an outstanding Mission League season, and good luck in CIF competition.
Royals Compete At the 81st Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays at the
University of Texas, Austin
In the 4x100 meter relay,
the team of M. Santos, T. Walker, J.
Marx and L. Williams made the finals and finished
5th overall in a seasonal best time of 50.21. Also, in
the 4x200 meter relay finals, the team of A.
Arnold, L. Williams, J. Marx and T. Walker
finished 6th in a seasonal best time of 1:47.32. In
the finals of the 4x400 meter relay, the team of J. Marx, L. Williams, N. Williams and S. Ryan finished 7th in a seasonal best time of 4:11.47. The team of M. Santos, B. Black, S. Ryan and N. Williams finished 11th overall in a time seasonal best time of 4:30. Congratulations, Royals!
Track and Field Update
The Track and Field team is off to a great start in 2008. The Royals
opened the season with a Mission League victory over Flintridge
Sacred Heart Academy by a score of 64-41. The Royals dominated
with top performances turned in by freshman L. Williams, who
won the 100 and 200 meters;
sophomore J. Marx,
who won the 400 meters;
sophomore S. Graveline,
who won the 1600 meters;
and junior A. Gomer,
who won the 300 meter
hurdles. The Louisville relay
teams, featuring sophomores
B. Daniels, M.
Santos, L. Williams and
J. Marx, won the 400 and 1600 meter relays. Freshman K.
Barber won the high jump and freshman T. Walker won the
long jump.
In their next meet, the Royals defeated Mission League rival
Chaminade by a score of 64-34 to improve their record to 2-0.
Highlights included J. Marx winning the 400 meters and
sophomore N. Williams winning
the 800 meters. On Saturday, March
15, the Royals participated in the Long
Beach Relays, finishing an outstanding
3rd overall. Highlights include the relay
teams sweeping the 4x100 meters and
4x400 meters. L. Williams ran a
personal best 12.88 in the 100 meters, finishing in third place. Congratulations to the Track and Field team on their outstanding start.
