Department Philosophy
The Social Science Department strives to prepare Louisville students to be active, mature, and Christian participants in a rapidly changing world. Students should become familiar with the terminology, concepts, questioning process, and critical analysis, basic to the social sciences, in pursuit of world peace, social and economic justice, and human dignity. Combining intellectual skills with Christian values, students should be involved in a process of discovery and creativity to improve the human condition. Assuming individual responsibility, as well as individual rights, students should become committed to using their knowledge with a view towards service to others.
