Science
Department Philosophy

The curriculum of the Science Department is dedicated to developing a curiosity about scientific phenomena, and the basic moral, intellectual and ethical background needed to be an effective citizen in an increasingly scientific world. The department stresses the use of the scientific method, promotes creative, innovative and critical-thinking skills and encourages cooperative activities among the students. Students will develop scientific literacy and the ability to make informed decisions of a personal, local and global nature.

Science department members are keenly aware of the cultural, behavioral and academic differences among our students. Department members endeavor to challenge all students in an atmosphere that meets their individual needs through diverse assessments, projects and laboratory activities that are motivating and pertinent to the students' individual lives and backgrounds.
